Permanent Partial Disability

Permanent partial disability benefits are available through workers’ compensation when an injured worker suffers a permanent impairment due to a work-related injury. It is based on the disability percentage, wage and the employee’s age. A physician or chiropractor must attest that you are medically stable and have reached maximum improvement in your condition. This benefit is normally paid in a lump sum.

Temporary Total Disability

The payments continue for the lifetime of the injured worker. The payment to injured workers who receive permanent total disabilities is increased by 2.3% every year.

Vocational Rehabilitation Training

An eligible worker can learn an occupation that matches his or her physical limitations and educational status through vocational rehabilitation training. Benefits for job training may be available if the injured worker is physically restricted and cannot return to work, was not offered light-duty permanently and cannot work at 80% of their previous wages. It also applies if the worker cannot find a job that allows for their physical restrictions.

Vocational Rehabilitation Maintenance

While receiving training for a different occupation, a worker who receives vocational rehabilitation maintenance under workers’ compensation receives the same amount of benefits as a worker who receives temporary partial disability.
